Do you really need to backup?

We have several companies and residential customers that would say definitely, YES!

There is nothing worse then losing all of your data when it could of been saved for as little as 15 cents per day.

So, now that you’ve decided to backup, what’s the best solution for you or your company. Do you choose an On-line backup service, DVD media or a large capacity backup drive. Lets take a moment at look at the three solutions.

On-line Backup

Plus side: Off site backup, non-stop automatic backup, your backup is always fresh, you get robbed or your place burns down there’s no risk of losing your data. No external storage problems. low cost.

Negative side: Very long recovery times up to a day or two for 30 gigs, shorter times for just a few files.

DVD media

Plus side: You have your data at your finger tips, quick recovery. Inexpensive.

Negative side: Data is never fresh, discs scratch easily, get lost, slow backup times could require many discs.

Large Capacity Backup Drive

Plus side: Data stays fresh and up to date. Enough space to hold all of your data, easily taken with you on travel.

Negative side: Expensive, $80 dollars or more. You get robbed, it’s gone also. Drives do fail.

So now that you know the differences between the backup types you just need to make your decision.

Want us to do it for you, no problem.

It’s hard to judge backup times seeing there is so many factors involved. i.e., USB type, system speed, file size and overall byte amount. Normally, if you have over 10 gigabytes of information we will have to take the system with us for backup and up to 20 gigs can be put onto DVD for $95.00. If you have more then 20 gigs we require that you either have or purchase an external backup drive or internal hard drive to have the data moved to. Every 100 gigs is another $70.00. You don’t need to get the backup drive from us but you do need to have one.   Turnaround time is usually 1 day.
